The number one concern Susan hears from parents with means is that their children will become productive, responsible adults with a healthy relationship to the wealth they will one day receive.

These children have a complex set of financial, social, legal, and personal circumstances, and parents worry how they will manage. Through her work with dozens of ultra-high-net-worth families over the last two decades, Susan has identified these key learnings:

• There are Five Pillars of Preparation:  Financial, Governance, Philanthropy, North Star and Stewardship. Understanding the Operating Business is a Sixth Pillar for those families who own a business.

• Conversations do not need to include actual dollar amounts.

• Starting early is great, but it’s never too late to learn.

• Preparation gives the best odds of personal financial health, family unity, and continuing legacy.

 

The Wells Jenevein Approach:

Successful wealth preparation begins with getting to know the unique and often complex goals and concerns of families as well as identifying ideal outcomes for a family’s education. Based on this information, Susan designs bespoke learning programs grounded in the Five Pillars to reflect the interests and specific circumstances of each family and family member. Programs include fun and engaging learning activities that incorporate family history, values, and goals. 

 

Families of Faith:

For many families that work with Wells Jenevein, faith serves as the foundation for how they steward wealth and shape legacy. With direction from families, Susan has developed comprehensive wealth education programs that support the Five Pillars of Preparation and incorporate the tenets of faith of the family. These tenets include scripture, family faith practices, and education about the legacy of belief shared from generation to the next.
